Winter Training: Faster and Safer Indoors? from NY Times today

I came across this in the New York Times this morning. We're lucky in California that we get pretty moderate weather year round (for the most part), though rain can really derail a trackie's riding in the fall, winter and spring, but what do others think of this?:
